FAQ's (frequently asked questions)

Where are you located?
I am located in Lubbock, TX here in West Texas.

How long have you been photographing?
Nearly 10 years in this genre that curvacion is all about.

Do you ever travel to do shoots or do I have to travel to Lubbock?
I do the majority of my shoots in Lubbock because of my access to various locales here as well as having all my equipment and lighting available. It is harder to lug equipment to other locales and have access to places to shoot at. I am willing to travel to do shoots for a traveling fee and as long as the potential model provides a place for me to shoot.

Can I bring someone with me to the shoot?
Absolutely!! You are free to bring whoever you like to the shoot as long as they understand what is being photographed and are not disruptive. 1-2 other people is usually all I will allow to reduce disruption.

What do you do with the pictures?
This is dependent on each model. I leave it up to them to tell me what their wishes are as to their pictures. Unless a model gives me specific permission to use their pictures, they are not shown. If a model lets me show their pictures, they will tell me what they are ok with me showing and where.  Either way, we do have a discussion about it to be clear.

Do I have to be an actual model to pose?
No. When I refer to models, I am referring to those who pose for me. Most of my clientele have little or no experience modeling.

What if I do not know how to pose? Do I need to be experienced?
This is not a problem. I have been told that I am very good at posing the human figure and I usually pose those in each and every image who do not know how to do so. Experience is not required.

How do You decide who to photograph and who not to photograph?
This is a very hard question to answer. It lies within who I feel will work ideally in my style of imagery. Some people do work and some people do not. I look at the overall person in determination.

Is clothing provided? Do you have a makeup artist? Hair person?
I do not provide clothing as it would be near impossible to have stacks of clothing on hand that would fit any client that walks in. I will at times buy an outfit if I feel it works with an idea I have for a shoot or make one from material, but clothing is the model's responsibility and I usually will tell them what they need to bring once I develop ideas for them.
Makeup and hair is also the responsibility of the model.

How much do you charge?
This is usually dependent on what kind of pictures the model wants. I usually ask only for a donation for my time and efforts if a potential client poses in my style and breakdown of images as listed on my website. If a client wants something outside of that, I do charge. I feel this is fair as one can go to any studio and get everyday pictures or pictures that suit them. Donations and support for my work has kept Curvacion going all this time so that money has to be utilized for those who feel comfortable posing in my style. My rates for shots a client may want is very affordable.

How can I be sure my privacy will be adhered to?
I have a very public job, how do I know that others will not be able to see my pictures or know I posed?
I have always taken my model's privacy very seriously. The locations for shooting are very private, whether they are indoor or outdoor. My clients pictures are forever kept private if they wish them to be. A client and I draw up a release that suits their purposes and wishes and those wishes are adhered to in the contract. So a model can feel free without worry to try a shoot like this.

I have blemishes on my body, is that a problem? Are tattoos and piercings a problem?
We are all human and all have blemishes.. whether they be acne, zits, scars, stretch marks, pregnancy, cuts, bruises, etc. I am a master editor so it can easily be edited out.
Tattoos and piercings are generally not a problem. I am usually ok with tattoos unless they are cheesy tattoos. In that instance the tattoos can be edited out.

How does the process of getting a shoot done go?
Usually a potential client and I will meet over coffee and discuss a possible shoot. Once that is done and a client decided to pose, I then develop ideas for that shoot. Once those ideas are developed I tell the client what she will need to bring and then decide on a time and place to shoot. If a client is from outside of Lubbock, talking and discussions are done over the phone or videoconferencing.

Where do you do your shoots? Do you have a studio?
I do not have a physical studio but may soon. Since this is only a part time job, putting money into a  studio is just not feasible. I do my shoots at various locales. I have access to many indoor and outdoor places including empty houses about to be put on the market, office buildings, and at times other buildings and business. These in a lot of way bring more to a shoot than conventional studio backdrops.

How long is a typical shoot? How many pictures do you take?
A typical shoot can last up to 3 hours and in that time 200-400 shots can be taken.

I am interested in being a model, how do I get started? Can you help me?
If you wish to try your hand at modeling, I will point you in the right direction as I have been around the industry for 10 years. I always help those trying to enter the world of modeling so feel free to ask me about it.

I was thinking of submitting my pictures to a magazine? Do you know how to do that?
Yes, I can not only take the pictures to be submitted, but can submit those pictures for you as well.

How long do pictures take to get back to me?
Anywhere from 2-4 months. Paid shoots are given editing preference but shoots are edited in the order of being shot.

How many pictures out of a shoot do I get?
I try to give more than just a handful of 25-40 pictures a typical photographer may give. So out of a 400 pictures shoot for example, a good 75-80% of the pictures are edited and put on a disk for the client.

Is there nudity involved?
I am a figure photographer, what I shoot has a lot to do with the body. I do not include nudity as part of an overall shoot for the sake of it, it is what i am good at photographing. The idea of nudity can be an intimidating one, but the over 400 women i have photographed have found that the thought of it is much more intimidating than actually doing it.
If a client wants something outside of what i shoot, then I can do that for a fee

I wanted some pictures with another girl or guy, do you take these type of pictures?
Yes, as of late there has been much interest from people to have pictures taken with another girl or guy. I will only shot those if they are done in good taste. I will not shoot two people in a sexual or pornographic manner.

Do u ever pay your models?
No, I have never had to pay a model to pose for me. This is not because I do not want to but I do this for the creativity and love for it..... and with a waiting list of around 200 on any given day, it is not something i need to do. I feel it is a priviledge to work with each client i work with and vice versa. The only time a model gets paid is if we are working on a project for example like a calendar or a print for sale at a gallery.. then
the model is entitled to a cut of whatever is earned.

Where do u meet your models at?
I usually meet potential models over coffee to discuss a possible shoot. Those from out of town i have to chat with online or over the phone.

How do u find your models?
Most are found through referrals from past clients and word of mouth. Other times i will go up to someone i meet in public and give my business card and  even at times find them online if they have a look that works.
